Marc Gallagher is a Managing Principal at Langan and has over 30 years of diversified civil and environmental engineering experience with specialty in geotechnical engineering. He leads teams on high-profile projects, providing strategic oversight and promoting effective solutions for challenging sites and structures.

Ben Alper is a Managing Principal at Severud Associates, where he has led complex structural engineering projects since joining the firm in 2005. His portfolio includes major cultural, transportation, and redevelopment work—such as TSX Broadway, JFK Terminal 6, and the Weeksville Heritage Center—along with deep expertise in advanced structural systems and specialized materials.

Join us for an in-person tour of the 90,000 square-foot Mary C. Winder Community Center that provides a welcoming space for the Oneida Indian Nation community located in Oneida, NY. This building is one of the largest, newly constructed glulam projects built in the state. The glulam was sourced from the only mass timber manufacturer in NYS, Unalam located in Unidilla, NY. This event will start with a 1-hour (PDH) presentation from the Structural Engineer of Record, Dr. Cole Hamey, PE with Thorson Baker + Associates (presenting virtually) on designing buildings with glulam framing. The presentation will be followed by a tour of the building by the Construction Manager, Maggie Werts with The Hayner Hoyt Corporation. The presentation is only available to in-person attendees.

Dr. Cole Hamey, PE,

Since joining Thorson • Baker + Associates (TBA) in 2007 as an EIT, Cole has received his PE license and assumed the role of Structural Senior Project Manager. Cole’s project experience with TBA includes healthcare, commercial and educational projects. Cole has been the lead engineer on multiple Revit projects, as well as multiple projects that are vibration sensitive. Cole has also worked on projects utilizing the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and LEAN construction practices. In March of 2025, Cole became a Director.

Support a great cause while improving your handicap, getting some sun, and mingling with colleagues! Join us for a day on the links in support of the SEAoNY Education Foundation.

Proceeds from the golf outing provide scholarships for students who are chosen by that year’s Honorary SEAoNY Member. This past year, scholarships were awarded to Tony Zheng and Jorge Martinez.

The Education Foundation also provides scholarships to high school seniors from the Urban Assembly School for Design and Construction to support them as they go on to represent our industry and become leaders in promoting our profession. Last year’s scholarship winners were Jordan Furlow and Ayham Barakat.
